WeareLight is the brainchild of Tyler Thompson, a Southern California native with years of experience in the music industry. Working as a saxophonist and keyboardist, he has co written several successful songs, including one that was prominently featured on American Idol. He would eventually depart California for his current home of Upstate New York, where he began bringing WeareLight to life. Merging his favorite elements of ambient, jazz, and Lofi hip hop, his new EP ‘Dreams’ is the sound of a confident young artist stepping into the spotlight and making his presence known.
Tyler’s compositions are made up of intricately woven melodies, hypnotic beats, and cinematic atmospheres. His instrumental tracks transport listeners to another world, best demonstrated by standout track ‘Manhattan Vibe, Southern Soul.’ With a fuzzy baseline and 70’s inspired electric keys, Tyler forces you to slow down and take in the song’s laid back feel.
Tyler describes himself as being “inspired by the convergence of the themes of darkness and light.” As enigmatic and mysterious as those words are, one listen through ‘Dreams’ will reveal exactly what he means. WeareLight’s laidback and uplifting sound will appeal to fans of all genres who are willing to open their minds.
